Morningstar in the terminal

Morningstar is investment research on funds, stocks and portfolios. Connected to a workspace, GBrain can compare two funds’ fees and ratings, summarize an analyst’s view on a stock, or check what a portfolio is exposed to.

It needs a Morningstar subscription, and the connection only reads.

  • Look up fund and stock data
  • Read ratings and analyst research
  • Analyze a portfolio
  • Screen funds and stocks

Install the CLI, then connect Morningstar

Morningstar is connected on its own sign-in page, in the browser. A key or a sign-in never passes through the terminal.

# Install the CLI
curl -sSL https://gbrainio.terminalwire.sh | bash

# Set the terminal up and connect it
gbrainio terminal connect

# What Morningstar is, and each of its commands once it is connected
gbrainio tool help morningstar

The installer is a shell script for macOS and Linux. Read it before you run it.

Morningstar's commands come from Morningstar's own server once it is connected, so none are listed here.

Same tools, any AI

Claude Code, Cursor and Codex reach the same Morningstar through MCP, on the same permission and the same record.
