A first draft that knows what your team knows

Most of the time the slow step isn’t writing the article. It’s staring at a blank page after you’ve already done the reporting. This ability turns the reporting your team has already done into a first draft, in the voice your team writes in.

What it does

Takes a brief: “Draft a 600-word piece on this week’s planning vote, leading with the staff recommendation.”
Reads every relevant source the team has saved or the standing reports have already captured: agendas, filings, transcripts, prior pieces.
Returns an outline, a pitch, or a full draft, depending on what was asked for.
Cites every claim back to the source the brain pulled it from, so the editor knows where to verify.

The reveal

A writer files at 4pm with a deadline at 7pm. By 4:15 there’s a draft on the page, with footnotes pointing to the documents it pulled facts from. The writer spends the next hour editing voice and tightening the lede, not assembling raw material.

What it doesn’t do

No invented quotes. No speculation past what the documents say. If a fact can’t be sourced from the team’s brain, the draft flags it as unresolved instead of making something up.

Length and shape: word count, outline form, pitch form.
Citation style: inline links, footnotes, or end-of-piece list.
