The book, read alongside your own life
Give the assistant a book and it produces a personalized read: every chapter summarized in full, and next to each one, a reflection on where the book’s ideas land in your actual life and work. Not a generic summary. A mirror.
What it does
- Reads a book you provide (an EPUB or PDF), chapter by chapter.
- Keeps the book intact on one side: the author’s real stories, frameworks, and memorable lines, detailed enough that you would not miss much by skipping it.
- On the other side, holds up a mirror: where this chapter’s idea shows up in your own life, in your own words, in specific situations and patterns.
- Draws on what the assistant already knows about you from your notes and past conversations, so the reflection is about your life, not a generic reader.
- Observes rather than instructs. It points things out the way a friend would, and leaves what to do about it entirely to you.
The reveal
You hand it a book you have been meaning to read. A while later there is a version where chapter three is not just summarized, it says something you recognize with a jolt: this is exactly the thing you have been circling for months, in words you did not have. You feel seen, not studied.
What it doesn’t do
It does not give you homework or a plan. No action items, no “you should,” no rearranging your life. It reflects and resonates, and the reader decides what to do next. It also will not invent facts about you. If it cannot verify something, it leaves it out.
Configuration
- The book: share an EPUB or PDF for the assistant to read.
- What it draws on: the more the assistant knows about you (your notes, your past conversations), the sharper the reflection. You can connect accounts in Settings to give it more to work with.
Triggers
On demand. Share a book whenever you want to read one this way, and the personalized version comes back when it is done.
